Company Profile
We are a criminal law practice specialising in all aspects of court work relating to the Magistrates Courts and Crown Courts that concern matters involving prosecutions by the Crown Prosecution Service / Police. Both Partners in the practice are Higher Court Advocates as well as being Specialist Criminal Solicitors. We deal with a large number of cases in the Courts in and around the Tyneside area including Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland, all Courts in County Durham and Northumberland. Apart from the above we deal also with a number of road traffic related cases, Appeals to Magistrates and Crown Courts in relation to taxi licence hearings, door supervisors’ registration appeals. The majority of the work done qualifies for Legal Representation Orders granted by the Court (formerly known as Legal Aid). We can also act on instructions in privately funded cases which would not attract Legal Representation Order qualification, each case would be treated on an individual case cost basis and discussed with the person instructing us at the initial interview. With regard to representation outside Court we have a number of approved and qualified duty Solicitors as well as accredited police station representatives who regularly on a daily basis attend police stations in an area stretching from Teesside to Northumberland. We operate a 24 hour 365 day a year coverage in relation to attendance at police stations. Many people are not aware that the provision of Legal Representation at a police station is “free of charge” to every person nobody at all has to make any contribution whatsoever for the advice and assistance, help and guidance at a police station provided to a person who has been asked to attend either as a voluntary attender by the police or indeed arrested by the police and needs to be questioned / interviewed by them. All persons entering the police station have rights to be represented by such personnel free of charge as well as other rights open to them and there are certain specific rules and regulations that the police must adhere to when a person is within their premises. All this type of work is dealt with by this practice in addition to the Court representation work mentioned above. •
This practice is authorised to do all of the above work by the Legal Services
Commission. The Partners in the firm are experienced advocates appearing in local Courts every day of the week, attending police stations and take a personal interest and pride in the way the practice is run. We are a small practice but are efficiently run and well organised to deal with all forms of law as outlined.
